FP McCann Ready Mix Global Cargo Solutions Armagh

FP McCann recently supplied 1500m³ of Ready Mix Concrete to contractor Armstrong Structural for the construction of a new lorry depot at Global Cargo Solutions’ (GCS) site on the Hamiltonsbawn Road in Armagh.

The large concrete pour was carried out over a two-day period, with lorries on site from 7am-12pm each day. FP McCann’s own fleet of 12 mixers facilitated the pours, with concrete supplied from its nearby Coote’s Quarry in Armagh.

40N concrete with fibres was used for this project. This mix of concrete was chosen to withstand the additional impact of multiple HGVs driving over the completed concrete daily. The pours took place in August during a period of hot dry weather – the addition of fibres helps to reduce the risk of cracking when pouring in these conditions, it also increases impact resistance and the overall strength of the concrete.

Andrew Woolsey, Managing Director, Global Cargo Solutions, said: “We were very pleased by the service provided by FP McCann. A large volume of concrete was required for our new facility, and the mix was consistent throughout. The time management of the lorries arriving on site was excellent – a new full lorry arrived as soon as one load had been poured enabling the job to be completed quickly, safely and efficiently. We are very pleased with the finished result and would not hesitate to use FP McCann’s products on any future projects.”
