The Strabane Public Realm Scheme continues to make steady progress as part of the wider investment in Strabane town centre. The project will transform key streets throughout the town through the installation of high-quality paving, improved pedestrian facilities, upgraded street lighting, new street furniture and enhanced public spaces.

The works are being delivered through a carefully controlled phased approach in order to minimise disruption to local businesses, residents and visitors while maintaining access wherever possible.

Construction activities to date have been concentrated on Railway Street, where substantial progress has been achieved. Excavation works, underground infrastructure installation and paving works have progressed well, with sections of the completed public realm already visible to the public.

New silver concrete paving has been installed in a number of locations on Railway Street, providing a first glimpse of the finished streetscape. In addition, sections of the natural granite paving proposed for the wider town centre have been installed outside the Library on Railway Street. These areas allow residents, businesses and visitors to see the quality and appearance of the materials that will be used throughout the scheme and give a clear indication of the finished look that will be delivered across Strabane town centre.

Railway Street will remain the primary focus of construction activities until mid-November, with paving, infrastructure and finishing works continuing over the coming weeks. Preparatory and ancillary works are also scheduled to commence on Market Street during the week commencing 21st September, helping to facilitate future phases of the public realm improvements.

Looking Ahead

Over the coming months, works will continue to progress in phases throughout the town centre. As further sections are completed, residents and visitors will begin to experience the full benefits of the investment, including:

• A more attractive and vibrant town centre environment.
