Concrete is a natural material manufactured from locally sourced aggregates and cement, with lower embodied carbon than many plastic products when assessed over full lifecycle including manufacturing, transport, installation, and eventual replacement.

Concrete is also fully recyclable at the end of life, with demolished concrete crushed and reused as aggregate, whereas plastic drainage products typically end up in landfill.
