How to Use FP McCann Two Part Epoxy Resin Grout
Preparation:
Paving should be laid to falls and Two Part Epoxy Resin Grout can be used on permeable and non-permeable bedding due to its chemical cure. Paving should be firmly bedded and table prior to filling joints and suitable for the intended traffic loading. Ensure the surface of the paving is free of debris and clean prior to application. Joints should have a minimum width of 3mm and a minimum depth of 15mm. For maximum traffic loading the joint depth should be three times the joint width.
Application:
Two Part Epoxy Resin Grout should be applied when the paving surface temperature is between 3ºC and 25ºC.
- Thoroughly wet the paving with water prior to grouting ensuring no dry patches
- Whilst using appropriate PPE, open the bucket lid and remove the hardener bottle and add all the hardener to the resin & sand mixture in the bucket to start the chemical reaction
- Using a drill and paddle mix the contents of the bucket for at least three minutes until thoroughly mixed
- Once the mix is free flowing and a consistent colour, empty part of the mix onto the surface of the paving and work quickly into the joints using a foam squeegee. The product will flow into the joints and fill them completely
- Repeat this process until the contents of the bucket is used up
- After around 15-30 minutes (depending on weather conditions) the grout will begin to change consistency and any excess will be ready to be brushed off the surface. First use a medium stiff brush at 45º to the joints to clean the grout from the surface of the paving. Then use a soft brush to clean any remaining sand from the surface and finish the joints.
A trowel or pointing tool can be used to finish the joints if a more traditional finish is required.
