At FP McCann, we recognise that to remain competitive we must embrace the latest sensor and processing technologies. We are utilising highly scalable camera and edge computing hardware with cutting edge AI models to deploy an automated quality inspection process to our products. Products are analysed on the assembly line using sensors capable of generating 3D profiles of the target products and comparing them to a comprehensive database with the latest in industry standards. The learning power of AI is leveraged to automate the creation of surface quality inspection models designed to identify a wide range of potential faults. The output of these models allows the detection of poor-quality products, minimising waste and assisting in informing production management on the overall health of the production line.

A network of these sensors aim to provide continuous visual feedback on the quality and pace of the precast production line. This process adds an automated element to the quality control process, increasing accuracy and reducing time required for assessment. It is imperative that these products are inspected quickly and precisely to keep production moving smoothly. The camera systems mathematically solve the real-world locations of the products allowing robotic components to move the cameras into an optimal position for inspection. Combined with the latest in edge computing hardware, the status of the products can be evaluated in real-time.

This automated process will also keep track of stock and allow the coordination of the production line. FP McCann will continue to develop the latest in computing and robotics technology to ensure the best quality product is supplied to our customers.
