Project Description

Client: Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council


The scheme’s objective was to improve the linkages and connectivity between keyspaces and gateways in Portadown town centre. The regeneration promoted footfall within the areas to help boost trade and the local economy. The high-quality finish was also to attract tourism and enhance use. The Portadown Linkages Public Realm Project was jointly funded by Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council & the Department for Communities.

The works for the Public Realm project included:

• Removal of surfacing and kerbs and replacement with natural stone kerbs and paving and resurfacing of asphalt roads and footpaths;
• Provision of new street furniture and street lighting;
• Tree planting and other landscaping work;

• New drainage to connect to existing street drainage/storm sewers;
• Minor footpath realignment works &
• Other ancillary civil engineering works
