FP McCann’s Ready Mix Concrete Success Leads To Second Project in Larne
Status: Completed
Location: Northern Ireland
Division: Surfacing, Ready Mix Concrete
Main Contractor: DI Flooring
Market Sector: Residential

FP McCann’s Mallusk Depot supplied 35N ready mix concrete for a project in Ballycarry, Larne. This project started off as a new lane leading to a farmyard but expanded to the resurfacing of the current lane in order to improve access for all residents.
The concrete was laid with a tamped finish and had polypropylene fibres added to reduce the risk of cracking and to increase surface strength.
A tamped concrete finish forms slight grooves on the surface of the concrete. This type of finish allows better grip for tractors, farm machinery and cars which is a key benefit for the client.
Initially, starting out as a 200m access road into a farmhouse, this project quickly expanded to over a 1 mile stretch of lane encompassing several turning points and passing areas along the way. Coming in at just over 800m³ of ready mix concrete, the lanes were completed in just over 1 week.
Commenting on the project, Chris Duggan from DI Flooring said, “I would highly recommend FP McCann and have used them on numerous occasions, great to deal with and nothing is a hassle”.
