FP McCann Deliver Full-Scale Technology Demonstration to IEEA Management Team and Consortium Partners

We had a productive meeting with our consortium partners (Queen’s University Belfast, National Composites Centre, B9 Solutions) and IEEA management team (Jacobs, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, and the Carbon Trust), where we shared the latest updates and achievements of our research project (https://www.carbontrust.com/news-and-insights/news/pioneering-energy-efficiency-tech-wins-government-grants). The meeting included a live demonstration of our prototype technology at factory-scale, which proved the feasibility and scalability of the solution. The live demonstration was followed by a progress update presentation and discussion lead by Principal Investigator Dr. Jacek Kwasny (FP McCann, Lead R&D Engineer – Sustainable Materials). The meeting finished with a tour of the state-of-the-art R&D facilities at FP McCann’s Knockloughrim precast site, showcasing the breadth and depth of the industry leading research into low carbon concrete, computer vision and automation being conducted within the company.

We are grateful for the continued support and feedback from the project partners, which help us improve our work and deliver innovative solutions to market. Our project aims to address a pressing challenge in the field of sustainable precast concrete, and we are excited to see the positive impact of our findings on the environment and society in the future. Stay tuned for more news and updates from our team!

The project, “Dispersed non-metallic reinforcement for energy efficiency manufacturing of precast concrete”, is led by FP McCann Ltd. in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast, National Composites Centre, and B9 Solutions Ltd. It is one of the Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator (IEEA) phase 4 projects. The IEEA supports industrial-scale demonstrations of energy and/or resource efficiency innovations with the objective to cut carbon emissions. It is funded by the Department’s Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP) and managed by the Carbon Trust with support from Jacobs and Innovate UK KTN.
