FP McCann’s Quarry Products Supplied to Corlacky Hill Wind Farm

FP McCann’s Knockloughrim & Bradley’s Quarries have supplied stone and Ready Mix Concrete to Adman Ltd. for an 11-turbine wind farm on the Corlacky Road, just outside Swatragh, County Derry/Londonderry.

Over 110,000 tonne of stone has been supplied to date, for haul roads, drainage, hard-standings and backfill to the turbine bases; this was delivered daily over a two-month period, with the project still ongoing.

Over 7200m³ of Ready Mix Concrete was then supplied and poured for the 11 turbine bases at the site. The mix was a more eco-friendly concrete, with 70% GGBS, which helps slow heat of hydration allowing the mass concrete to cure effectively.

Each turbine base contained approximately 68 loads of concrete. FP McCann was able to deliver to each base in a short timeframe, with pours beginning early morning and completed by midday.

FP McCann surfacing team also carried out extensive work on the project with upgrades to the Corlacky Road and the reinstatement of an NIE track to the windfarm. In total over 15,000m² of resurfacing was completed.

RES Group managed the construction and operation of the wind farm on behalf of client ERG SpA, with Adman undertaking the civil construction works.

FP McCann made its first delivery of stone in July 2024, with the final load of concrete poured in January 2025.
