FP McCann has supplied and installed its prestressed hollowcore flooring system on a brand-new care facility under construction in Milton Keynes
Situated on the modern Brooklands community to the east of the city, the purpose-built Rosebrook Care Home will open as a state-of-the-art 91 bed residential home in 2027 and will offer care and support to those who are living with dementia.
Working on behalf of family run residential care provider B&M Care, FP McCann’s hollowcore flooring system has been incorporated into the upper ground floor of the steel frame building.
Supplied from the Company’s Scotland based Uddingston factory, the FP McCann fixing team installed 771 m2 of prestressed hollowcore planks over a 3 day period.
200mm deep x 1200mm wide Hollowcore slabs were supplied at a variety of lengths to suit the build.
The Hollowcore slabs were designed with a 1 Hour fire rating. The slabs are CE marked and manufactured in accordance with BS EN 1992-1 1:2004 and BS EN 1992-1-2:2004.
The Hollowcore slabs were provided with open cores, into which rebar was placed and insitu concrete was poured to tie the planks to the structural frame.
Speaking on behalf of B&M Care, Construction Manager James Bradshaw says, “This is the first time we have undertaken a build using the prestressed precast concrete hollowcore flooring system and we are very impressed with the quality of the flooring itself and the speed in which it was installed and associated works completed. The FP McCann contracting team undertook the work in a safe and efficient manner completing the installation to programme. We will most certainly consider using off-site manufactured precast concrete hollowcore flooring on future projects”.
