Location: Castle Street, Ballymena

Client: Mid & East Antrim Borough Council

Description:

The works will provide upgrades to the street to bring them into line with the design and finish of the wider Ballymena Public Realm scheme (with works completed also by FP McCann), and in particular to complement the work recently completed to Lower Mill Street and Pat’s Brae by linking into the works already undertaken at Church Street and Mill Street and will also include the upgrading of the remaining asphalt pavement on Bridge Street opposite the Braid. Project part funded by the Department for the Communities.

The proposed public realm works include:

  • Works to Castle Street (from Church Street to the junction with Meeting House Lane) to upgrade the footways with granite paving to match existing public realm scheme materials and the works recently carried out on Lower Mill Street.
  • Extending paving around & including the roundabout on Meeting House Lane and across the front of St Patrick’s Church to the junction with Trostan Avenue.
  • Re-paving of the footway on Bridge Street opposite The Braid, thereby completing the works to ensure a consistent finish of paving from Lower Mill Street right through to Meeting House Lane. As with Lower Mill Street, the carriageway of Castle Street will also be resurfaced.
  • Upgrading/replacing all street lighting to match with that already installed in previous public realm schemes.

We also particularly welcome interest from local sub-contractors and suppliers.
