FP McCann’s Onyx Black shade Essential Porcelain tiles have recently been installed as part of a new refurbishment project at the famous Gigg Lane football ground, home to Bury FC. Gigg Lane is one of the oldest professional football stadiums in the world, dating back to 1885. Unfortunately, in 2019, Bury FC went into administration ultimately losing their status as a Football League club. Gigg Lane was left unused until 2022, when it was purchased by a fans group and re-built marking the re-birth of Gigg Lane and Bury FC.

As a fan owned club, the stadium isn’t just used on match days: Part of the new development includes the renovated “ET Clay1885 Suite” a multi-use indoor facility offering fan hospitality and a hub for the local community providing space for groups to meet. Most notable amongst the regular get-togethers, is a group that provides support to people with alzheimer’s/dementia.

Installation of FP McCann’s 16mm thick Essential Porcelain tile flooring in the ET Clay1885 Suite has been undertaken by Bury based JW Building Services. The distinctive Onyx Black shade tile floor complements the feature 1885 internal brick wall with additional tile cuts carefully made to dress a small internal step.

With approval from FP McCann, Bury based stockist of bricks, blocks and landscaping products CPG Building Supplies donated the porcelain tiles free-of-charge. The 910mmx610mm tiles in pack sizes of 50 allows for coverage of over 27 square metres. Also supplied were FP McCann Priming Slurry, Paving Mortar and FP McCann Porcelain jointing compound.

Featuring a smooth and uniform surface, once installed the Essential Porcelain tiles require little maintenance. Four colour shades are on offer – Onyx Black, Pearl, Beige and Grey. For heavier trafficked areas, FP McCann also offer a 20mm mm thick Lifestyle Landscape Porcelain Paving collection in four colour shades – Ivory, Cream, Grey and Black Slate. Grade 5 Lifestyle Landscape and Essential Porcelain Paving are suited to both domestic and light commercial use and are R11 slip rated.
