FP McCann’s Concrete Exposed Makes a Splash At New Mid Ulster Waterpark

FP McCann’s Ready Mix Concrete and Concrete Exposed was utilised at the newly-opened Splash Outdoor Waterpark in Moneymore, Magherafelt.
FP McCann’s exposed aggregate was used for the pathways at the inflatable waterpark, with four loads of Forest Flint from the Concrete Exposed range being delivered in one day. The concrete was then floated and sprayed with retarder, and the surface washed off the following day. The result is a hardwearing, 40N concrete with decorative stones showing through. The work was carried out by DMC Decorative Concrete.
FP McCann also supplied Ready Mix Concrete for the industrial flooring at the waterpark earlier in the year. Concrete was also supplied and finished with a blue shake top sealer, adding a pop of colour to blend in with the aquatic surroundings.

The waterpark is situated on the site of an old quarry, which ceased operations 50 years ago. The site was purchased in 2019 by Robert Carmichael who is the director of The Jungle NI, an already highly successful outdoor activity centre operating in the area since 2005. The waterpark opened to the public in June 2021.
