St Patrick’s Link Road is a 2.4 km new single carriageway, which will be a 30mph road linking the Larne Road Link and the Broughshane Road in Ballymena. It will provide access to the St Patrick’s Regeneration Site which is currently being developed as well as the Northern Regional College Farm Lodge campus currently being developed and the Ballymena Showgrounds site.
To date we have completed the following activities:
- General site clearance and topsoil strip completed from the ECOS Roundabout to the Market Carpark at the rear of the cinema
- Archaeology monitoring and the additional exploratory dig adjacent to Castle Tower School section has now been completed within the project footprint
- Mainline drainage and associated culvert works has been completed from the Kernohan’s Lane/Showgrounds Junction to the Market Carpark at the rear of the cinema
- Bulk earthworks which includes the majority of the disposal off-site and import of required rock on to the site has also been completed from Kernohans Lane/Showgrounds Junction to the Market Carpark at the rear of the cinema
- Granular stone capping material placement is substantially completed for 54% of the road length
Upcoming Works
- 2022-10-10 Larne link Road to the rear of the Cinema works is due to commence
- Throughout the site-Installation of utilities to include watermains, NIE, BT etc
- Throughout the site- Granular sub-base placement
