Focus On: FP McCann’s Knockloughrim Quarry & Precast Factory

Knockloughrim is one of FP McCann’s largest and busiest Northern Ireland depots, hosting our Head Office, as well as a Quarry, Precast Concrete Manufacturing Facility and a Bagging Plant.

Knockloughrim is a small village in the heart of Mid-Ulster, located between the towns of Magherafelt and Maghera. This depot supplies a huge range of construction materials, including: precast concrete drainage, agricultural and walling products; ready mix concrete; asphalt; aggregates; dry silo mortar and bagged products. Due to the variety of products manufactured and stocked across both the quarry and precast factory, Knockloughrim sends its products nationwide.

Knockloughrim was the original bedrock of the business, with founder Francis Patrick McCann extracting and selling aggregates by hand in 1979. The company progressed and built an asphalt plant in 1984, a ready mix concrete plant in the early 1990s, and added a precast concrete facility in 2000. The aggregate produced at the quarry still feeds the multitude of products supplied at the depot.

Over the years, Knockloughrim has supplied construction materials to countless projects, from local residential jobs to commercial infrastructure schemes. Key projects include the Toome Bypass & Bridge Construction, A6 Dualling at Randalstown and more recently, the quarry supplied ready mix concrete for the construction of a bridge deck for the newly opened A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe Dualling project.
