How does FlexiArch work?
The system is built from precast concrete voussoirs (tapered blocks), each manufactured with the correct taper for the required span and rise. These blocks are linked with a flexible polymeric membrane, allowing the arch to naturally form into its correct load-bearing shape when lifted into place by crane.
How is FlexiArch delivered to site?
A FlexiArch bridge is delivered flat-packed on flatbed transporters, making it easy to transport and handle. Each delivery includes:
- Precast flexible arch rings for the required bridge width
- Precast spandrels, which can feature decorative finishes
The spandrels form the external face of the bridge and act as permanent shuttering for the concrete infill. While they do not carry traffic loads, they provide durability and aesthetic appeal.
