NATURAL STONE FLOORING CASE STUDIES
Lancashire garden makeover – Landscape Porcelain Flooring
Our Ivory Landscape Porcelain tiles were installed across multiple areas of a full garden redevelopment in Darwen, Lancashire. SMW Construction Ltd carried out the installation, using 900×600mm, 20mm-thick tiles supplied through Alty’s Builders Merchant.
The smooth, uniform finish created a clean, modern appearance across paths, terraces, and landscaped zones. Installers reported excellent cutting performance, with the tiles showing reduced brittleness compared to alternative porcelain products.
The Landscape range is R11 slip rated, suitable for domestic and light commercial use, and offers strong aesthetic consistency across large areas.

Urban regeneration works – Natural Stone
FP McCann’s Construction Division delivered significant public realm improvements as part of the Inner Walled City Public Realm Project, comprising approximately 7,010m² of upgraded streetscape.
The project included the installation of high-quality stone surfacing, new footways and carriageways, improved kerb alignments, public art integration, and enhanced pedestrian environments.
Our technical materials supported the installation:
- Street Screed for rapid foot traffic acceptance (12 hours)
- Priming Slurry for durable bonding
- Paving Grout for fast-setting, weather-resistant joints
This scheme forms part of ongoing regeneration work across Derry/Londonderry, following previous FP McCann public realm projects at Shipquay Place, Guildhall Street, Custom House Street, Strand Road and other key locations.
INSTALLATION BEST PRACTICES
To support reliable installation, we recommend:

- full-bed mortar support for natural stone
- slurry priming for porcelain
- use of appropriate cutting tools (porcelain requires diamond blades and wet cutting)
- adequate falls for drainage
- correct grout selection for joint strength and weather resistance
