How to Use FP McCann Easi-Repair™ Cold Lay Tarmac
- Ensure the application area where Cold Lay Tarmac is to be laid is dry and compacted
- Make sure that the area has been swept and that any weeds have been removed
- Use an ordinary rake, spade or trowel to spread the Cold Lay Tarmac to the required thickness
- Use a roller to achieve good compaction or use a heavy, flat object for ‘tamping’ to achieve similar results
- Simplistic application, no previous experience is required
- No specialist tools or equipment are required
- Suitable for base or wearing course
Hints and Tips
For potholes and patches deeper than 30mm deep
Whenever repairing deeper pot holes (greater than 30mm) lay the Easi-Repair™ in two stages. In the first stage compact the first layer before spreading the next layer. In the second stage, lay the Easi-Repair™ to the finished surface required level and then compact.
When NOT to use Easi-Repair™
It is not recommended to use Easi-Repair™ in outside temperatures below 5°C or when the area to be worked in is very wet.
Ground Preparation
Before overlaying concrete or paving, spray or brush on a tack coat of bitumen emulsion(edging and jointing spray is recommended) at a rate pf about 0.5litres/m² to help prolong the life of the repair, especially if prone to freeze/thaw conditions
On completing your patch or ramp
Do not place any heavy or sharp objects on the newly laid surface such as caravan legs, jockey wheels and other similar high loadings.
Brush a little dry sand over the surface after compaction to help prevent ‘lifting up’ of the fresh material as it sets. This is not essential but may be helpful, especially on warmer days.
Storage Guidance
Please ensure unopened bags are stored in a cool dry area, preferably on a pallet or shelf keep elevated from the ground and protected from wind and rain.
