Focus On: FP McCann’s Coote’s Quarry

FP McCann’s Coote’s Quarry is situated on Redrock Road, Armagh and covers a wide catchment area in both NI and ROI. The quarry provides materials to surrounding towns, such as Armagh, Tangradee, Loughgall and Markethill, as well as Dundalk, Castleblayney and Monaghan Town.

Coote’s Quarry was established in 1978 by David Coote. A ready mix plant and block manufacturing yard were added in the 1980s, with a production facility for precast agricultural products being installed in 2007. FP McCann acquired the quarry in 2017.

As well as ready mix concrete and concrete blocks, the quarry produces a range of aggregates, rock boulders and gabion stone. Coote’s has a precast manufacturing facility on-site, which produces products such as cattle slats, cubicle beds, T Beams, cover slabs, flooring closures, flooring slips and gulley risers. There is also a precast stock yard for products produced at other depots.

A new manufacturing shed was added in 2022 to increase manufacturing capacity at the site.

The depot has provided materials to a variety of projects in the local area, including the large-scale ready mix pour at Warrenpoint Wastewater Treatment Works, where we supplied 2000m3 of concrete, including 600m3 in a 12-hour overnight pour
