FP McCann’s insulated precast sandwich panels provide a ready-made external envelope with a variety of finishes. This eliminates many of the pitfalls associated with traditional building methods utilising wet trades

Design & Composition

The insulated precast concrete panels, constructed off-site, comprise an outer leaf of precast concrete, an insulating layer and an inner leaf of plain grey concrete with a power floated finish. The external skin is connected to and supported the internal skin using proprietary plastic ties. The ties have low thermal conductivity and as such eliminate cold bridging. We can modify the thickness of the insulation to accommodate the required U-value.  The shape, thickness and size of the concrete can also be made to meet the requirements of the project.

Insulated sandwich panels can be used to drastically reduce erection periods and on-site safety hazards for any crosswall project. The ability to fit various facades, windows and insulation during manufacture, reduces the need for numerous follow-on trades and eliminates the need for scaffolding.

Sandwich Panel Cross-Section

Sandwich Panel Cross-Section

  • Construction is much faster with the ability to adopt ‘just in time’ site delivery and a fully integrated structure and skin system where load-bearing wall panels provide both structural support and external finish, minimising on-site labour cost.
  • Prefabricated sandwich panels also eliminate the need for external scaffolding saving the main contractor costs and prelims.
  • They provide a strong, durable, energy-efficient, fire-resistant composite cladding system.
  • All aspects of the production process are undertaken in an off-site factory environment, thereby enabling achievement of the highest possible quality finish.
