Magherafelt Public Realm Scheme awarded to FP McCann

Project: Magherafelt Public Realm Scheme

Client: Mid Ulster District Council

Location: The public realm scheme will provide environmental improvement works to Magherafelt’s main thoroughfare which includes Broad Street, Market Street and parts of Rainey Street, Queens Street, Church Street and Union Road.

The works to the town centre will include upgrading pedestrian areas and pavements with high quality materials, improved lighting provision, new street furniture, signage and tree planting.
Funding for the scheme comes from both Mid Ulster District Council and the Department for Social Development. The scheme aims to contribute to the regeneration of the area, enhance its use for events, promote footfall and, in turn, boost trade in the town.
The traditional Thursday market which normally takes place in the Diamond area has been moved to the Rainey Street car park for the duration of the public realm work.
