Refurbishment of Faughan Viaduct at Campsie as part of Coleraine to Londonderry Track Renewal Project. The viaduct, which was constructed before 1940, is a multiple spanned reinforced concrete beam bridge over the estuary of the River Faughan. The 109m long viaduct consists of 11 square spans supported on reinforced concrete piers and abutments. The main structural support in each span is provided by 4 No precast, reinforced concrete T-beams with clear spans ranging between 8.60 metres and 9.18 metres.

Works included:

Temporary Works such as:

• Birdcage scaffolding along bridges 11 spans including fully boarded platform
• Temporary works secured to prevent any materials/equipment falling in environmentally sensitive River Faughan with a geotextile membrane

Concrete repairs to:

• The underside of the bridge deck & along the concrete beams with delaminated areas
• Concrete bridge parapet internal & external
• Bridge piers
• Abutment/wing walls including raking out and re-pointing in open joints identified
