Title: Peace IV Shared Spaces and Services Project

Location: The works are spread over six sites within Comber, Holywood, Portaferry and Portavogie.

Client: Ards and North Down Borough Council

The objective of the Shared Spaces is to create a more cohesive society through increased provision of services which can be used by all the community. Each project proposed under the shared spaces programme has been suggested by the community during community consultations on the needs of the area. The project is supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

Works will include:

Comber:

  • Skate Park;
  • Family kick about area
  • Path network with lighting;

Holywood:

  • Wildflower Meadow/ Tree Planting;
  • Serpentine path network and gate onto Demesne Road for pedestrian access;
  • Family kick about area
  • Entrance Signage

Portaferry at two locations :

  • Nugent’s Wood: will include improvements to the existing walking trail path, drainage works, seating, sculptures and entrance signage.
  • Ropewalk: will include installation of an official walking trail, seating, sculptures and entrance signage.

Portavogie at two locations:

  • Princess Anne Road: Skate park including fencing and lighting.
  • Anchor Car Park: Outdoor Gym
