FP McCann has received BSI accreditation under PAS 1192-2:2013 in respect of Information management for the capital/delivery phase of construction projects using building information modelling (BIM). The Company is now certified as a Tier 2 contractor including the design, manufacture and installation of precast concrete product solutions complying with BIM Level 2 in accordance with PAS 1192-2:2013, BS 1192:2007 and BS 1192-4:2014.
The verification certificate covers the procedures and guidelines implemented at FP McCann’s Weston Underwood precast operation in Derbyshire, but the Company’s Knockloughrim, Grantham and Byley precast facilities are also covered by the certification.
The BSI Verification Certificate for Design and Construction proves the Company’s capabilities to not only deliver BIM projects via the software tools and skills needed on a BIM Level 2 project, but it also demonstrates that FP McCann’s management systems and QA procedures comply with the requirements set out in PAS 1192-2.
As well as allowing the Company to embed BIM within its processes and procedures, certification also helps to provide evidence of complaints procedures and evidence of training competency for BIM.
Commenting on the BIM Level 2 certification, Wayne Maxwell BIM/ Technical Manager at Weston Underwood adds, “As well as offering a consistent way of working across multiple projects and sites, this will also reduce bidding costs as the evidence to deliver BIM projects is now firmly in place. Moving forward, this will certainly provide the opportunity to win more business via the independent certification of BIM capability”.
