Latest Product Development
Our precast Storm & Waste Water Management System 'StormStore' has been developed to suit a wide range of construction projects and drainage schemes. Recent studies have shown how the UK is being increasingly affected by Global warming with Atlantic Storms causing widespread flooding. The main reason why floods are happening across the globe is due to drainage systems not being able to cope with the increasing amount of rainfall resulting in water being discharged at large rates. The FP McCann WRc approved 100 year design life Storm Water Attenuation System has been designed to combat this and can be customised to suit all requirements. The Storm Attentuation System can be used for several solutions including Detention, retention, infiltration, Harvesting and Treatment of water.
StormStore Case Study
FP McCann recently completed a contract to supply and fit one of our StormStore water tanks at a brand new state-of-the-art Energy and Waste Centre in Leeds. The project was commissioned by Leeds City Council and PFI residential waste treatment and energy recovery partner, Veolia. The plant holds the ability to handle up to 214,000 tonnes of black bin waste per annum and generate approximately 11 MW of electricity for supply to the National Grid - enough for 20,000 homes.
The £200 million turnkey Design and Build contract is the responsibility of building and civil engineering contractor Clugston. An integral part of the plant’s design is the installation of a 1200m3 underground water storage tank for emergency firefighting purposes. Consideration was given to all tank options, including in-situ build and plastic, but critical to the client’s requirements was water tightness, speed of construction and long life performance.
As part of the approval process, FP McCann’s WRc approved 100 year design life modular precast system met all criteria, with water tightness tests on the tank carried out using equipment from telemetry specialists Metasphere at FP McCann’s Littleport site in Cambridgeshire.

To install such a large tank in any other material or by any other method other than using off-site manufactured precast concrete would be both costly and impractical. Precast concrete is a durable, long-life option that requires little to no maintenance in this type of underground water storage scheme.
